Rain

The gray, overcast sky stretched over her head. The clouds were tinged with sadness and melancholy that cold winter morning. A roar warned her of the arrival of a storm not too far away, but she didn’t seem to pay too much attention to it. She only hurried up when the first drops began to fall, which soon became a true deluge. Without anything to cover herself, she began to run, eager to be safe from the wrath of the skies.  Then, the rain stopped. Confused, she looked up to contemplate the parable that had suddenly created a dry circle around her. The owner of the umbrella looked at her with mocking eyes, and it seemed like he didn’t mind the fact that he had to give up his shelter. Of all the people…  Did it have to be him?

-Oh… it seems that it has stopped raining. –said the boy breaking the silence, removing the umbrella and looking up to the sky.

But that wasn’t quite true. In her eyes, it was still raining with intensity. He looked down and noticed her tears and a hint of concern crossed his face. But this soon gave way to surprise when he felt the girl in his arms. Such was the strength and the need for that hug, that the umbrella slipped from his hand and fell to the puddled floor.

Little by little, the drops began to fall again, insistent, incessant, bringing with them the storm once more. However, the rain had already taken second place for them. In the middle of that chaos, a hug that didn’t require words; in the middle of that storm, the song that marked two hearts.
