Glass wings

By the time she arrived at the hothouse, it had been dark for hours. The moonlight, barely let intuit her slow and light movements in the middle of the darkness, as if she was a fragile butterfly. With a superhuman effort somehow strengthered by the fatigue that lashed her and with the help of a lever, she forced the old lock.

The inside was dusty and disorganized. The objects piled up everywhere, like lost and abandoned dreams. In a place apart from the world, but that she could intuit, once had been the centre of all eyes. Then, she saw her there. In the middle of all those chaos, shining in the middle of all that darkness, a glass cabinet so big that it touched the ceiling. Inside, a pale-skinned young girl with long golden hair stood still with her chin straight and her eyes closed. A tear was frozen on one of her eyelids, and on her back, what looked like two  wings, which looked like fragile porcelain. She got rid of the hat that had been hiding her head so far, revealing the untidy strands of her light blue hair. With a decisive step, she got closet to the glass cabinet, her almost transparent blue eyes shone with intensity. Lever still in hand and without hesitation, she charged at the glass. When the glass broke into pieces, the girl opened her deep amber eyes, losing balance and fell into her arms. Her wings fluttered restlessly, or rather her wing. Because only one of them remained in one piece. The other one was completely torn.
The girl with golden hair looked at her with a confused face. She took off the coat that she was wearing in response, showing two wings identical to hers. And like her, one of the wings was completely shattered.
-Good heavens! –she could finally murmur, stifling a scream- It can’t be possible… You… You really did… -she stifled another scream when the other girl nodded her head in silence- How… how much time has passed?
-Too much. The mortals were never reliable. I warned you that it was too dangerous, that you would be hurt and that they would want to take advantage of your power. But you didn’t want to listen to me. As always. –the girl with the crystalline look reproached her.
-Maybe you’re right, but I don’t regret anything. –she claimed with a special shine in her amber eyes and with a tired smile- If I could choose… I would meet them again, whitout a doubt. –finally, the tears that for so long she had forced to hold onto rested on her cheeks.
-Even if you suffer again? –the girl with transparent eyes wants to know, looking at her seriously.
-Without doubt. –she claimed.
-Come on, let’s go home. –the girl with blue hair sighed, apparently, annoyed- The Earth isn’t a place for angels.
